For the record: State Rep. Atsalis' credentials clarified

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a story on page A3 of Wednesday's Times contained an error about state Rep. Demetrius Atsalis, D-Barnstable. Atsalis belonged to a union when he worked as a prevention specialist in the Barnstable Public Schools system, according to his brother and campaign manager Nik Atsalis.

Because of an editing error, an editorial on Page A8 of Saturday's Times had incorrect information about a review of the Cape Light Compact and Cape and Vineyard Electric Cooperative. The Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates voted to do an audit of the Cape Light Compact separate from the county's regular audit. CVEC is not included in that audit.

Correction: Relationships incorrect in Four Seas book review

Because of a reporting error, the family relationships in a book review of Heather Wysocki's "Four Seas Ice Cream: Sailing Through the Sweet History of Cape Cod's Favorite Ice Cream Parlor" on Page B6 of Sunday's Times were incorrect. Richard and Georgia Warren were Wysocki's grandparents. They ran the store from 1960 until the early 1980s, when they divorced. Richard Warren and his second wife, Linda, ran the shop until 2000. Wysocki's parents, Douglas and Peggy Warren, took over the business in 2000.

Because of an editing error, a religion news brief on Page C5 of Saturday's Times gave the incorrect day of the first of three monthly Taize services to be held this summer at the New Church, Route 6A, Yarmouthport.

The first service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Because of a reporting error, the Tip from the Times on Page A2 in Sunday's paper was incorrect. At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Cape Cod Hook Fishermen's Association will host a seminar and cooking demonstration on day boat scallops. Elaine Tammi and Karin A. Tammi, authors of "Scallops: A New England Coastal Cookbook," will talk, serve scallops and sign books. They will be joined by Chatham day boat scallopers Tye Vecchione and Bob Keese. Because of a reporter's error, a photo caption on Page A4 of Monday's Times contained incorrect information about a graduate student working on a phytoremediation project at the Barnstable Water Pollution Control plant. Hayden Ausland is a University of Iowa graduate student.

Plane crash pilot misidentified

A story about a plane crash in Provincetown that ran on Page A2 of Sunday's Cape Cod Times requires clarification.

Del Borda of Lincoln, R.I., was not the pilot of the plane that crashed Saturday night, nor was he injured in the incident.

Borda was prevented from flying home to Rhode Island when the Provincetown Municipal Airport was closed following the crash of another pilot.

Because of an editing error, a story on Page A2 of Wednesday's Times about the Massachusetts Gaming Commission omitted a quote from state Rep. Keiko Orrall, R-Lakeville.

In responding to the commission's willingness to hear her constituents' concerns about the proposed Taunton casino, Orrall said: "I am very happy, because we haven't gotten that kind of response so far from the governor's office. ... What my elected officials are looking for is transparency, and we've gotten little response."

Stephanie Weaver concert date incorrect

Because of a reporting error, the wrong end date for a run of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at Payomet Performing Arts Center in North Truro was given in the Behind the Scenes column on Page 3 of CapeWeek in Friday's Times. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays through Aug. 11, except for the first weekend in August, when the show runs Friday through Sunday. Also, on July 28, the show is at 5 p.m.

Ticket price incorrect for 'James and the Giant Peach'

Because of a reporting error, a review of Harwich Junior Theatre's "James and the Giant Peach" on Page D8 of Sunday's Times had the incorrect adult ticket price. The correct price is $22. Also, because of a production error, part of a sentence was omitted. The sentence should have read: "And Brian Freedman, who played the title role of James, was sweet as could be as the young man who just wants to have friends and escape his horrible aunts, played delightfully by local drama teachers Karen McPherson and Dianne Wadsworth."

Harwich woman's history clarified

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A4 of Tuesday's Times omitted information about Abigail McGillen of Harwich. McGillen was found not guilty of operating under the influence of alcohol and other traffic violations following a July 5, 2009, arrest in Truro. Her arrest for assault and battery on rescue personnel in January outside the Hot Stove Saloon in Harwich was continued without a finding until 2014, according to Orleans District Court.

Because of a reporting error, an item in the Cape Commerce column on page C7 of Thursday's Times listed the wrong location for a bella of Cape Cod store. The new store in Falmouth is its third location, joining Hyannis and Chatham.

Keating position corrected

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A3 of Friday's Times misstated U.S. Rep. William Keating's position on a timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops from Afghanistan. During a televised debate with Bristol County District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter, his Democratic primary opponent in the 9th District race, Keating said he favors a quicker withdrawal than President Barack Obama's plan to be out by 2014.

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a person involved in an accident Thursday on Coles Neck Road was misidentified. The man injured when his vehicle flipped after driving partway up a landscaping truck ramp was John Duane, 55, of Wellfleet.

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, the wrong address was listed for Ryan Garbitt in the Orleans District Court report that ran on Page A4 of Wednesday's Times. The defendant's address is 35 Lake Drive, South Dennis.

Because of an editing error, a photo caption on Page 16 of the CapeWeek magazine in Friday's Times gave the incorrect address for a talk by author Jhumpa Lahiri. The Pulitzer Prize-winning writer will speak at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Wellfleet Congregational Church, 200 Main St., in an appearance sponsored by the Friends of the Wellfleet Libraries.

Pyrotecnico didn't handle Mashpee fireworks

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a story on Mashpee's fireworks that appeared on Page A3 in Friday's Times wrongly stated Pyrotecnico handled the fireworks at the Mashpee Community Picnic. Those fireworks are organized by the town and set off by Atlas PyroVision Productions.

Pyrotecnico's show was a separate event held at the Country Club at New Seabury.

Because of a reporting error, a brief that ran on Page A3 of Saturday's Times incorrectly identified the former occupation of Matthew Newton, a defendant in a drunken-driving case. Newton was a Falmouth police dispatcher.

7,500 nesting pairs counted on Monomoy

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Sunday's Times contained incorrect information about the number of nesting birds counted on Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge. There were nearly 7,500 nesting pairs of various bird species counted on the refuge in a 2011 census, according to information provided to the Times by refuge manager David Brownlie. The story has been amended to reflect this correction.

For the record: Majority vote needed for Monomoy school funding

Because of a reporting error, a story on the proposed Monomoy Regional High School that ran on Page A3 of Tuesday's Times had the wrong amount of votes needed to pass a Proposition 2½ debt exclusion at town meetings in Chatham and Harwich in late August. It requires a majority vote in both towns to authorize borrowing for the $64.7 million school.
