Correction: Voting record omitted for P'town candidate

April 18, 2012

Because of an editing error, a story on Page A3 of Tuesday's Times contained incomplete information about Erik Yingling, a candidate for selectman in the May 1 Provincetown election. Yingling attended local public schools and has voted in four out of the nine most recent annual and special town elections, town records show.

Correction: Abused child does not live in Barnstable

April 18, 2012

Because of an editor's error, a headline on a story about an abused child on Page A1 of Sunday's Times identified her as being from Barnstable. She does not live in that town but because of the nature of the story, the Times is not identifying her or the town where she does live.

Riverview Employee Residence Incorrect
Because of a Reporting Error, a story about the Riverview Cafe on page 1 of Tuesday's Times had incorrect information about employee Katie James. She lives at the Captain' House in Centerville, an independent-living program run by former Riverview School employee Betty Costa.

The Film 'Planeat' will be Shown at 7pm.
Because of an Editing Error, the information box with a story on Earth Day food on page C1 of Wednesday's Times had the wrong time for the Friday showing of the film 'Planeat'. It is at 7pm at Unity on Cape Cod Church in Hyannis.

For the record: Shellfish quarantined for at least 3 months
April 25, 2012

Because of a reporting error, an editorial on Page B4 of Sunday's Times incorrectly stated the amount of time quahogs transferred from off-Cape are quarantined after arriving in Cape waters. Contaminated shellfish are off-limits for at least three months and even longer if the spawning season has not yet occurred.

For the record: Nissan Leaf has top speed of 90 mph

Because of a reporting error, an article on Page C1 of Tuesday's Times misstated the top speed of the Nissan Leaf. The electric vehicle has a top speed of approximately 90 mph, according to the automaker.

Because of a Reporting Error, the Business Calendar on page c-3 of Tuesdays Times gave the wrong location for the American Business Woman's Association open house and expo.The event will be at the Hyannis Holiday Inn, 1127 Route 132, Hyannis from 5:30 to8pm on May 8.

Reserve fund money to pay for accrued benefits.
Because of a reporting error, a story about the Truro annual town meeting misstated the use of $50,000 approved by voters. The money will help establish a reserve fund to pay retiring employees, in some circumstances, for accrued sick and vacation time.

Only one site in Yarmouth for for drug drop-off.
Because incorrect information provided to the Times,the wrong locations of drop-off points in Yarmouth for unused medicines were included in an item on page A-2 of Wednesday's Times. Go to the Police station.

Because of a reporting error, the number of Bikram Yoga studios on the Cape was incorrect in the Cape Commerce column on page C5 of Thursday's Times. In addition to Bikram Falmouth and Bikram Yoga Cape Cod in Barnstable, there is a Bikram Yoga Brewster on Underpass Road.

Harwich schools comply with asbestos law

Because of an editing error, a story about asbestos in schools on Page A3 of Saturday's Times had an inaccurate headline. Harwich schools have an updated asbestos management plan and are in full compliance with the federal asbestos safety act known as AHERA.

For the record: Charge dismissed for William Kophammer

Because of a reporting error, the Barnstable District Court report for April 23 published on Page 7 of the April 27 edition of the Times had the incorrect disposition for a charge against William Kophammer of Hyannis. The charge of possession of Percocet on Feb. 18 was dismissed on payment of $100 court costs.

For the record: Rejected fire station 24,000 square feet

An article about the Chatham town meeting on Page A1 of Tuesday's Times contained two errors. Because of incorrect information provided at the meeting, the square footage of the proposed fire station was incorrect. It was 24,000 square feet. Because of a reporting error, a statement by part-time resident John Hallgren was incorrect. Hallgren visited seven fire stations on the Cape and eight in Florida.

For the record: Summers' degree listed incorrectly

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, biographical information on Chatham Selectman Sean Summers on Page A3 of Monday's Times was incorrect. Summers received his bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Harvard University Extension School.

For the record: Photo caption lacked photographer's name

Because of an editing error, a caption on a photo of Monica Rizzio that appeared on Page 14 in Friday's CapeWeek did not include the name of the photographer, Stacey Hedman.

For the record: Date incorrect for macular discussion

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, the date was incorrect for a talk on macular degeneration in a brief on Page A12 of Tuesday's Times. The talk will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Hyannis VFW at 467 Iyannough Road (Route 28).

Absentee ballots counted on election day

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Wednesday's Times about Orleans town election had incorrect information about absentee ballots. Those ballots are counted the day of the election along with all the other ballots.

Because of an editing error, a story on Harwich's annual election on Page A4 of Wednesday's Times had an incorrect summary of Ballot Question 3. Town Administrator James Merriam said the long-standing practice had been for the town to pay 75 percent of the medical insurance premium for the surviving spouse of an employee or retired town employee. The ballot question sought to continue that practice, but it was defeated. Merriam believes that selectmen will attempt to revisit the question, possibly by the August special town meeting.

Correction: Zuern comments clarified on wastewater

An article about the town of Bourne's elections on Page A3 of Wednesday's Times misstated new Selectman Linda Zuern's goals regarding wastewater. She hopes to look into work that the Massachusetts Estuaries Project, run by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, has done in Bourne and where money allotted for that project has gone.

The estuaries project at one point recommended areas of the town where a wastewater treatment plant could be built. Reporting.

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, an item in Community Notes on Page B2 of Sunday's Times had incorrect hours for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Family History Center, 1220 Cataumet Road, Pocasset.

The center is open to the public 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as by appointment, by calling 508-444-6066.

Because of a production error, a photo caption on Page A1 of Monday's Times misidentified an Upper Cape turbine. The photo was one of two turbines at the Massachusetts Military Reservation operated by the Air Force Center For Engineering and the Environment.

Correction: Falmouth, Fairhaven turbines are different

Because of incorrect information provided by a source, a Standard-Times story that appeared on Page A1 of Monday's Times had an incorrect description of the Wind 2 turbine in Falmouth. Wind 2 is a stall-regulated turbine, unlike Fairhaven's turbines, which are pitch-regulated.

Family members misidentified in graduation story
June 06, 2012

Two family members of a student graduating from Sturgis Charter Public School were misidentified in a story that appeared on Page A3 of Monday's Times. Melissa Kruse is the stepmother of student Jacob Howe and Noreen McCarthy is his stepgrandmother. Jacob's mother, Karen Greene Arnold of Southwick, also attended the graduation.

Call it a Reporting Error.

The Boston Globe mistakenly left out a rather important event from its “This Day in History” feature:

Correction: Because of a production error, the column “This Day in History’’ in Wednesday’s g section omitted that June 6, 1944, was when Allied forces in World War II stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, beginning the liberation of German occupied western Europe.
