Because of an editing error, a headline on Page A1 of Friday's Times incorrectly characterized the Yarmouth Police Department's gun collection program. Today, the police station on Higgins Crowell Road will serve as a drop-off point for unwanted guns and ammunition. Local businesses and restaurants are providing gift certificates for participants.

Because of an editing error, the name of a state panel that withheld the names of semifinalist job candidates was missing from a story on Page A2 in Friday's Times. The panel is the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

A Falmouth District Court disposition that appeared on Page A5 of the Friday Cape Cod Times contained inaccurate information. Courtney Campeau, 34, of Mashpee was ordered to stay away from someone who was not a victim in the case.

For the record: Dog owner at meeting wrongly identified

January 10, 2013

Because of an editing error, a story on Page A1 of Wednesday's Times misidentified the owner of the dog that allegedly urinated on a slide and then jumped on a toddler at Drummer Boy Park. At the Brewster Board of Health meeting Tuesday night, Paul Simons commented about the incident not as the owner of the dog, but as someone who had heard the story.

Falmouth man not involved with suit

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a story about the Falmouth selectmen's meeting that ran on Page A4 of Wednesday's Times had an error about the lawsuit over the town's turbines. Falmouth resident Malcolm Donald is not involved with the suit.

Because of a reporter's error, an information box that accompanied a review of Barnstable Comedy Club's "Bedside Manners" on Page C2 of Saturday's Times listed the incorrect first name of the playwright. The play was written by Derek Benfield.

Because of a reporter's error, a photo caption that accompanied a review of Providence Performing Arts Center's "Million Dollar Quartet" on Page C3 of Thursday's Times incorrectly identified the actors pictured. Shown in the photo were, from left, Martin Kaye, Lee Ferris, Chuck Zayas, Derek Keeling and Cody Slaughter.

Because of reporter's error, the name of the person overseeing a solar array project at Massachusetts Military Reservation was incorrect in a Page 1 story in Friday's Times. Capt. Shawn Doyle is leading the project for the 102nd Intelligence Wing.

Because of a reporter's error, a story and headline on Page A2 of Friday's Times contained incorrect information about proposed ordinances to address so-called problem properties in Barnstable. The town council passed a new ordinance at its regular meeting Thursday that requires property owners to pay for police response to properties with four or more valid complaints of criminal activity in a year. The council also changed the definition of occupant to include anyone 18 years old or older. A series of additional ordinances related to rubbish storage, noise and other issues will be discussed at a workshop Feb. 14 and will be taken up again at a public hearing Feb. 28, according to Barnstable Town Attorney Ruth Weil.

Tribe's land in trust bid is for Taunton, Mashpee

A court entry from Feb. 6 in Orleans District Court that appeared in the Feb. 11 Times' court report contained incomplete information. The report should have stated that Daniel Starkweather, 41, of 2008 Main St., Chatham, was found guilty of wanton destruction of property of a value more than $250, from an Aug. 9 incident in Chatham, and sentenced to six months' probation, $390 costs, $50 fee and restitution; charges of breaking and entering to commit a misdemeanor and breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony were dismissed.

Because of a reporter's error, a Best Bets item that appeared on Page 8 of Friday's CapeWeek gave the wrong name of a class being held today at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. The class is "Gardening for Life: Designing with Native Plants," with landscape designer Theresa Sprague. Participants are asked to bring a sketch of their garden's layout. Because of a reporting error, a story on Page C1 of Tuesday's Times about a seminar on drones misidentified the director of workforce development and training at the Cape Cod Community College Workforce Education Resource Center. Her name is Jennifer True. Also, because of an editing error, a photo caption identified a National Guard unmanned aircraft as a drone. Although the training seminar next month will include an on-site visit to see these aircraft, the military does not consider them drones. Additionally, because of a production error, the credit for the main photo was incorrect. It should have said Unmanned Vehicle University.
