Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 in Wednesday's Times about the Barnstable Town Council election had the incorrect number of registered voters and percentage of voter turnout in Precinct 1. About 38 percent of the precinct's 2,804 registered voters cast ballots in the election. The average turnout across the seven precincts with contested council races was about 29 percent.

Taxpayers would be required to pay a betterment fee when the water line is installed on their street even if they don't connect to the system. Also, the consultants who spoke at the meeting were incorrectly identified. Paul Gabriel is the president and founding partner of Environmental Partners Group and Mark White is a consultant.

For the record: Vienna choir appeared in Mashpee in 2006

Lafoon, 49, of Forestdale, pleaded not guilty on Dec. 12 to a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a plastic adhesive tape dispenser. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Jan. 12.
