Because of an editing error, a photo caption on Page A1 of Saturday’s Times misidentified equipment being used by researchers at Salt Pond in Eastham.
The instrument in the photo is a conductivity-temperature-depth logger, and is used to measure temperature, salinity, light, dissolved oxygen, and chlorophyll, according to Michael Brosnahan, a red tide researcher at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
