Wastewater plant construction slated for summer of 2020

Because of a speaker’s error, a story on Page A3 of Monday’s edition misstated the anticipated start of construction for a wastewater treatment plant in Bourne. Although it is dependent on the Economic Development Administration approving a grant before the project can go out to bid, construction is expected to start in the late summer or fall of 2020, according to Mary Jane Mastrangelo, chairwoman of the Bourne Finance Committee.

2 candidates will seek selectman’s seat

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A2 of Friday’s Times included incorrect information on candidates for the Mashpee Board of Selectmen. Incumbent board Chairwoman Carol Sherman and Shane Clark will appear on the ballot in the May 21 election.

Clarkson a former Gosnold consultant

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A3 of Wednesday’s Times incorrectly identified the affiliation of Troy Clarkson. He is a former consultant for the treatment network Gosnold Inc.

Carl Staab was among centenarians honored

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a photo caption on Page A2 of Wednesday’s Times about a community party recognizing a group of centenarians from Cotuit misspelled the name of World War II veteran Carl Staab.

Name of shellfish constable misspelled

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A3 of Thursday’s Times included an incorrect spelling of Wellfleet Shellfish Constable Nancy Civetta’s name.

Fast ferry returned to service in 2017

Because of a writer's error, an editorial on Page A8 of Friday's Times incorrectly stated when the fast ferry Iyanough returned to service after its crash in June 2017. The vessel returned to service less than a month after the collision with the Hyannisport breakwater.

Federated Church meal phone number corrected

Because of an editing error, an item in the Religion Briefs on Page B2 of the April 14 Times contained incorrect information about Holy Week events at the Federated Church of Orleans. To participate in the free community Easter dinner from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, call the church at 508-255-3060, ext. 10. No ecumenical service is planned for Good Friday, although Brewster Baptist Church will offer one beginning at noon. Music at the Federated Church's 10 a.m. Easter service will not include handbells.

Professor affiliated with Sea Education Association

Because of a reporting error, a story about ocean plastic that appeared on Page A1 of Sunday's Times gave an incorrect affiliation for Kara Lavender Law. Law is research professor of oceanography at Sea Education Association in Woods Hole.

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a story on Page A1 of Thursday's edition included incorrect information about Judith Scanlon's position. She is the former chairwoman of the Orleans Shellfish and Waterways Improvement Advisory Committee and is now a member of the River Herring Network Steering Committee.

Names misspelled in editorial

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, the names of winners in the kindergarten and first-grade division of a poster contest were misspelled in an editorial on Page A8 of Friday's Times. Sean McPartlan and Drew McPartlan attend Station Avenue Elementary School in South Yarmouth.

Rail Trail meeting to be in school auditorium

An item on Page A2 of Monday's Times gave the incorrect location for a public information session on the proposed Bourne Rail Trail project. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, and

the venue has been changed to the Bourne High School auditorium.

Sailing school name wrong in story

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Monday's Times included the wrong name for a sailing school where concerns have been raised about shellfishing equipment that might be placed near Bassetts Island.

The school is Buzzards Sailing School Inc. in Pocasset.

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Wednesday’s Times about the purchase of aquaculture land gave the incorrect affiliation for Michael DeVasto. He is vice president of the Wellfleet Shellfishermen’s Association.

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A2 of Wednesday's Times gave the incorrect arraignment date for a former Harwich Chamber of Commerce executive director. Jeremy Gingras was arraigned on larceny charges Tuesday in Orleans District Court.

Cotuit’s Kentucky Derby gala is today

Because of an editing error, the Best Bets column on Page 9 of Friday’s CapeWeek magazine listed the wrong day for Cotuit Center for the Arts’ fifth annual Kentucky Derby Gala. The fundraiser will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m. today at the center, 4404 Route 28. Tickets are $25, with no charge for children under 12. Conservation trust to produce symphony video

Because of a misprint in the Cape Symphony’s program and a reporting error, a lifestyle story on Page C1 of Friday's Times contained two mistakes. Cape Symphony is working with Harwich Conservation Trust to have a videographer using drones capture a bird’s-eye view of Cape Cod. The symphony is also commissioning a piece of music for the “Soaring Over the Sound” piece that is part of the season’s first concert, “Beethoven on the Cape.”

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Thursday’s Times gave the wrong residence for the wife and sons of Elvis de Almeida Ribeiro, who was killed in a workplace accident Tuesday in Hyannis. The family lives in Vespasiano, Brazil.

Because of a writer’s error, an editorial on Page B4 of Sunday’s Times incorrectly reported the date of the 60th anniversary celebration of the League of Women Voters of the Cape Cod Area. The celebration is May 22.

Keating quote on Seashore panel incorrect

Because of a reporting error, a quote by U.S. Rep. William Keating, D-Mass., in a story on Page A1 of Friday’s Times about the Cape Cod National Seashore Advisory Commission’s possible reauthorization was incorrect.

Keating said he expects “things to go smoothly again this Congress.”

Because of a reviewer's error, an article on Page C4 of Tuesday's Cape Cod Times gave the incorrect name of a song about singer Ari Hest's dog. It is 'Sato.'

Brewster tax abatement for seniors is $500

Because of a writer's error, a My View commentary on Page A9 of Monday's Times contained incorrect information about Brewster's Senior Real Estate Tax Abatement Program. For eligible seniors, the town will abate the annual real estate property tax by $500, less mandatory deductions, half in the fall and half in spring. In exchange, the taxpayer must volunteer for the town for at least 45.5 hours by Sept. 1.

Because of incorrect information supplied to the Times, a What to Do listing on Page 15 of today's CapeWeek supplement includes the wrong guest at a public film screening. Director Thomas Bena will be part of a discussion related to the screening of his 'One Big Home' at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Taylor's Point Association, 10 Saltworks Lane, Buzzards Bay.

Because of a reporting error, a story about a review of Brewster's financial practices on Page A1 of Thursday's Times wrongly attributed a statement to Select Board Vice Chairman David Whitney. The information came from Town Administrator Peter Lombardi.

Charge dismissed against Falmouth man

Because of a reporting error, an item on Page A2 of Friday's Times contained incorrect information about a Falmouth District Court case. A charge against Brian Hunt, 54, of Falmouth, of interfering with a police officer was dismissed Wednesday at the request of the commonwealth. Hunt's son, Benjamin Hunt, pleaded not guilty May 28 to charges of speeding, driving under the influence, negligent operation of a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, a marked lane violation, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. Those charges stem from a May 25 rollover crash and a scuffle with police that allegedly followed.

Will Upham plays father in ‘Birdie’

Because of a reporting error, a review that appeared on Page C5 of Thursday’s Times gave the incorrect name for the actor who plays the character Kim’s father in College Light Opera Company’s production of “Bye Bye Birdie.” The role is played by Will Upham.
