OUI, cellphone use charged in Yarmouth crash

SOUTH YARMOUTH — A Dennisport man faces several charges, including operating under the influence, after he was caught allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash Sunday afternoon in West Yarmouth.

Dione Mariani, 21, was found to be intoxicated and talking on his cellphone when he crashed into another vehicle at West Yarmouth Road and Route 28, according to the Yarmouth Police Department press release.

He was arraigned Monday in Barnstable District Court on charges of OUI, second offense; failure to use care in stopping; hit and run; failure to wear a seat belt; and using a cellphone while driving.
