May 21, 2011HYANNIS — It could be a new twist on a classic joke: Why did the bus full of attorneys, their clients and a judge cross the road?

But in this case, the bus and the dozen passengers were real and the other side is the judge's decision in a Land Court challenge that pits the owner of the Wendy's property on the Barnstable Municipal Airport rotary against the airport.

For more than an hour Friday, Judge Gordon Piper toured roads and parking lots surrounding the airport, listening as attorneys pointed out various buildings and other landmarks that are part of the case. The lawsuit stems from a roadway project connected to the new terminal being built at the airport.
