Local dovekie not record-breaker for birder

Because of an editing error, the photo caption and a headline for Christian Hagenlocher’s bird-watching story on page A3 in Tuesday’s paper contained incorrect information. When he visited Race Point in Provincetown on Dec. 31, to try to see a dovekie, Hagenlocher already had identified enough birds in 2016 to break the American Birding Association’s Big Year record for 2013.

Date of workshop, raid information incorrect in immigration story

Because of incorrect information provided to a reporter, a story on Page A3 of Monday’s Times included the incorrect date for a free workshop, “Preparing for President Trump,” hosted by Catholic Social Services. The workshop, aimed at addressing immigration-related concerns, is scheduled from 4-5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Isle Church on Nantucket. Because of a reporting error, the story included incorrect information about a 2007 raid on a textile factory in New Bedford. During the 2007 raid, agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained 361 undocumented immigrants, some of whom later gained legal residency in the U.S

Letter incorrect about counties won in election

Because of a writer's error, a letter to the editor on Page A8 of Wednesday's Times included incorrect information about the number of counties Hillary Clinton and President-elect Donald Trump won in the Nov. 8 presidential election. The Associated Press has reported that Clinton won 487 counties and Trump won 2,626 counties.

Because of a reporting error, information about the status of a survey of members of the Massachusetts Medical Society was incorrect in a Jan. 10 story about medical aid in dying.

Filming location, age in sea turtle story incorrect

Because of a 2 reporter’s errors, a story on Page A1 of Wednesday’s Times, incorrectly identified where videographers Michele Gomes and Jennifer Ting visited in Mexico while filming a documentary about sea turtles. They filmed in Tecolutla, Mexico. The story also included incorrect information about Gomes’ age when she spent summers in Wellfleet. She was in her teens and early 20s at the time

Information on nuclear plant violations incorrect

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Thursday's Times included incorrect information about the criteria for not citing nuclear reactor licensees for a violation classified as “green,” or low risk. Federal regulators may choose to make such violations “non-cited” if the licensee enters them in its corrective action plan and if the violation is not repetitive.

The detainer requests that Renato Cordeiro-DeCampos, a citizen of Brazil who pleaded not guilty in Barnstable District Court to charges he raped two teenage girls, be turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement upon disposition of the case.

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a story on Page A1 of Wednesday’s Times incorrectly stated when a bill introduced by U.S. Rep. William Keating, D-Mass., would go into effect. The bill’s proposed exemption from a cap for returning H-2B workers would apply to 2017 only and would not be permanent.

Carter didn’t have nuclear physics degree

Because of a writer’s error, a “My View” column on Page A8 of Wednesday’s Times incorrectly stated the education credentials of former President Jimmy Carter. Carter received a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1946. At Union College in Schenectady, New York, he studied nuclear physics, but did not obtain a degree in nuclear physics.
