Perry should seek release of report to clear his name
February 11, 2011I was reminded of the story of "The Emperor's New Clothes" when I read your Feb. 5 report "Sheriff refuses to release Perry report," in which Sheriff Cummings refuses to release the contents of the $3,800 study that convinced him that prior actions of former Rep. Jeff Perry should in no way prevent his appointment as special sheriff at a salary of $110,000.
The emperor paid an enterprising tailor to weave for him a suit of invisible thread, then proudly showed off his new garment by parading through town on his favorite mount. Everything was fine until a young boy shouted out, "The king is naked!"
Unfortunately, in this case the king (sheriff) refuses to be transparent, and hides behind a cover designed to obstruct the truth.
If the report exonerates Mr. Perry, then why will the sheriff not release it? Surely, in order to clear his own name, Mr. Perry should demand its release.
