Judge cited health board’s ‘broad powers’ in turbine dispute
Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Monday’s Times incorrectly characterized a decision in Superior Court related to the jurisdiction of the town of Bourne over wind turbines in Plymouth. The judge ruled that Bourne officials didn’t have the authority to regulate the construction of the turbines but that “a Board of Health has broad powers to regulate and prevent nuisances that affect the public health,” adding that it remained to be seen whether the operation of the turbines would be a nuisance affecting the health of Bourne residents.

Dredging story had wrong location, current status
Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a story on Page A1 of Thursday's edition gave the wrong location of previous dredging in Chatham. Because of an editing error, the status of a permit from the state Department of Environmental Protection referenced in the same story was incorrect.
Dredging had occurred five times since 2000 more than 5,000 feet south of Minister's Point in the mooring basin of the Chatham Fish Pier, according to Robert Duncanson, director of the town's Natural Resources Department. The DEP approved dredging on the south side of the 2007 inlet on Aug. 16, according to Duncanson.

Information for D-Y schools omitted from roundup
Because of an editing error, the following information was not included in a backto- school roundup for public schools that ran on Page A1 in Sunday's Times.
Dennis-Yarmouth Regional District
Dennis-Yarmouth Regional Schools Superintendent Carol Woodbury is excited about plans for a new Dennis-Yarmouth regional middle school behind the Station Avenue Elementary School in South Yarmouth.
“Our students will have the good fortune to attend classes in a modern, state-of-the-art school where 21st century learning experiences will support our mission to prepare students for the world that awaits them,” Woodbury said in an email.
The school, for students in grades 4-7, is estimated to cost $109 million, and will likely receive reimbursement of $43 million from the state, Woodbury said.
“The money comes from a portion of the sales tax that we all pay,” Woodbury said.
“Everyone knows that real estate values increase when a new school is built. While the building is primarily for educational purposes, there will be many opportunities to share the facility with the communities,” Woodbury said.
A districtwide ballot seeking approval for costs associated with the new building is planned for Dec. 4.

Information incorrect about property ownership
A story on Page A9 of Saturday's Times requires clarification about the owner of 133 Sunset Lane in Barnstable. The owner of the home is 133 Sunset Acquisition Lane Limited. Mark S. Scott, who is facing a federal charge of conspiracy to commit money laundering, is listed as the director of the company. Nobody else is officially listed as a co-owner of the property despite an online record that gives the appearance that there is a co-owner, according to the town assessors office.

Tools to gauge illness will cost hospitals
Because of an editing error, a letter to the editor on Page A8 of Friday's Times headlined “Nurse-patient ratios would cripple hospitals” was unclear on the estimated cost to hospitals if Question 1 passes. The Massachusetts Health Policy Commission conservatively estimates total annual costs of $676 million to $949 million, of which first-year costs of developing tools to measure the severity of an illness or accident would be $57.9 million, then $26 million annually.
