Varela bail information incorrect

Because of a reporter’s error, a story on page A2 of Tuesday’s Times was incorrect regarding bail for Alector Varela, who faces assault charges in Barnstable District Court.

Varela is being held on $10,000 cash bail and is due back in court Jan. 28.

Clinics planned for Brewster, Harwich, Wellfleet

Because of a reporting error a story on Page A1 of Wednesday’s Times incorrectly listed one of the three Lower Cape towns where Outer Cape Health Services plans to build a new health clinic. The three new clinics will be located in Harwich on Route 28, in Brewster on Route 6A and on Route 6 in Wellfleet, where an existing clinic will be torn down after the new one is built.

Drug defendant sentenced to probation

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A3 of Thursday’s Times gave the incorrect sentence for Sherman Anderson, who pleaded guilty in Barnstable Superior Court to drug charges.
Anderson was sentenced by Judge Robert Rufo to three years of probation.

D-Y high school not evacuated

Because of a reporting error, a log on Page A2 of Thursday's Times about a bomb threat received at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School contained incorrect information about the response to the threat. The school was not evacuated.

Trooper Marc Powell testified at trial

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Wednesday’s Times misspelled the first name of a state police trooper who testified at the trial of Darryl Green. The trooper’s name is Marc Powell. A second reference to homicide victim Crystal Perry’s sister, Veronica Perry, also was incorrect.

Official worried about ‘scarping’ of dunes

Because of an editing error, a quote attributed to Mark Galkowski, Sandwich natural resources director, was incorrect in a story and photo caption that appeared on Page A3 of Saturday’s Times.
Galkowski said he expects there to be “scarping” of the dunes at Town Neck Beach from this weekend’s nor’easter.

No decision on $800,000 developer request

Because of a reporting error, a story that appeared on Page A3 of Saturday's Cape Cod Times contained a mistake. The Community Preservation Committee in Eastham has not yet decided on an $800,000 request from the developer of an affordable housing project proposed for the former T-Time golf driving range property off Route 6.

The festival is being held today through Sunday at Western Connecticut State College.

Author’s husband is Thomas Schrom

Because of a reporting error, a story about “Himalayan Style” on Page C1 of Friday’s Times gave the incorrect name of author Claire Burkert’s husband, Thomas Schrom. The book’s forward was written by Robert A.F. Thurman

Wrong charges attributed to Osterville man

Because of a reporting error, an item on Page A8 of Friday's Times incorrectly identified a man who faced a charge of assault and battery in Barnstable District Court as the same man charged with a string of break-ins in Harwich last month. Douglas E. Bearse, 55, of Osterville, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and a threat to commit a crime. Those charges were continued until March 28 if he pays a legal counsel fee of $150. Douglas M. Bearse, also 55, of West Harwich, pleaded not guilty in Orleans District Court to multiple larceny and breaking-and-entering charges.

Sales agreement included wastewater permit deadline

Because of an editing error, a story on Page A1 of Friday's Times contained incorrect information about a Dec. 18 deadline for a wastewater permit for a sports complex and convention center planned in Sandwich. The deadline was included in the purchase and sales agreement for the land, but since the agreement sets an overall deadline of June 17, selectmen are honoring that as the ultimate deadline for all permits.

Studio Two performance is Saturday at 8 p.m.

Because of a reporting error, a notice that appeared on Page B2 in Sunday’s Community Notes column included the incorrect time for a concert by the Beatles tribute band Studio Two. The band will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Cape Cod Irish Village, 833 Route 28, South Yarmouth.

Charter change requires majority vote

Because of a writer's error, an editorial on Page A8 in Wednesday's Times incorrectly reported the vote margin needed to amend the county's home rule charter to combine the 15-member Assembly of Delegates and the three-member board of commissioners into one five-member elected commission. The change requires 50.1 percent or a majority of the assembly's weighted vote to be forwarded to the county commissioners for ratification.

Forty-eight percent of the teachers at Wellfleet Elementary School received the equivalent of an A+.

Grade levels incorrect for Imani Club

Because of incorrect information given to the Times, the grade levels listed for the newly formed Imani Club were incorrect in a story Saturday on Page A1. The youth empowerment organization for children of color will focus on grades 3-12.

Proposed county budget is $27.7M

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A3 of Friday’s Times had the incorrect amount for the Barnstable County budget proposal. The County Commissioners officially submitted a proposed $27.7 million fiscal 2017 budget to the Assembly of Delegates on Wednesday.

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Monday’s Times gave the wrong hometown for Jim Loiselle. Loiselle, who finished third in the Hyannis 10K on Sunday in 40 minutes, 49 seconds, is from Centerville.

Man pleaded guilty to indecent assault, battery

Because of a reporter’s error, a log on Page A2 of the Feb. 3 edition of the Times contained incorrect information about a charge James Stone, 19, of Mashpee, pleaded guilty to in Falmouth District Court. Stone pleaded guilty to indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.

Because of a production error, a graphic on Page A8 of Tuesday’s Times incorrectly identified a possible location for a day center for the homeless in the town of Barnstable. The potential locations are the former Marstons Mills Elementary School, the former Knights of Columbus hall on Route 28, two sites in the Old Yarmouth Road and Ferndoc Street area, a Barnstable Housing Authority property off Mary Dunn Road and a 5-acre county-owned parcel on Phinney’s Lane.
