Correction: Letter names wrong president

A letter to the editor on Page A8 of Thursday’s Times incorrectly stated the name of the president in 1914. It was Woodrow Wilson. Editing.

Correction: Wrong date listed for Viking 200 Cardboard Boat Challenge

Because of a reporting error, the Pick of the Week event on Page 18 of Friday's CapeWeek had the wrong date for the 10th annual Viking 200 Cardboard Boat Challenge. The contest will take place at 10 a.m. today at Sundancer's Restaurant, 116 Main St., West Dennis.

For the record: CARE organized Yarmouth beach cleanup

Because of incomplete information provided to the Times, a story about the Yarmouth recreation director on Page A1 of Wednesday’s paper omitted CARE for the Cape and Islands from the list of organizations involved in the Yarmouth beach cleanup. CARE organized the event and invited the Center for Coastal Studies to help with the educational component.

For the record: Cost of centralized sewering could be reduced to $4 billion or less

Because of a reporting error, the potential reduction in cost of a wastewater project that appeared in a story on Page A1 in Saturday’s Times was incorrect. Paul Niedzwiecki, executive director of the Cape Cod Commission, said the cost of centralized sewering could be reduced to $4 billion or less.

For the Record: Minimum wages wrongly listed in Sunday story

August 19, 2014

Because of an editing error, a column on Page E1 of Sunday's Times had the incorrect amounts for minimum wage in Massachusetts. The full minimum wage is $8 an hour. The minimum for tipped employees is $2.63 an hour.

For the record: Wrong listings used in Wednesday's paper

Because of a production error, the events listings for things to do today on Page A2 of Wednesday's Times were incorrect.

For the record: Police not involved in civil search warrant

August 21, 2014

A letter to the editor on Page A9 in Tuesday's Times contained incorrect information about police involvement in a civil search warrant served on a Hyannis home Aug. 12. While police were asked to be available if needed, officers neither entered the property nor served the warrant, which was handled by zoning compliance, animal control and conservation officials, according to the Barnstable Police.
I'm going to call this Editing.

Because of an editing error, a headline that appeared on Page A1 of Sunday's Times was incorrect. The headline should have read "New bond between a boy with autism and a service dog named Leno brings a sense of calm to a Sandwich family."

For the record: Clambake's cooking method clarified

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a story about the clambake at the West Barnstable Deer Club on Page A1 of Monday's edition contained an error. Organizers make a fire with wooden pallets and use it to heat old, metal train rails for cooking the seafood.

For the record: Wychmere club is located in Harwich Port

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Tuesday's Times gave the wrong address for the Wychmere Beach Club. It is located in Harwich Port.

For the record: Break-in occurred in lot of Island Queen Ferry

FALMOUTH - Because of incorrect information given to the Times, a story on Page A2 of Thursday's edition about a car break-in in Falmouth that led to a home robbery had an incorrect location. The car was in the parking lot of the Island Queen Ferry at 75 Falmouth Heights Road on Tuesday, according to the Falmouth police.

Correction: Barnstable will not own proposed concert hall

Because of a reporter's error, an article on Page C1 of Saturday's Times misstated the likely ownership of a new concert hall planned by the Cape Cod Symphony. According to symphony Executive Director Jerome Karter, "The ownership structure is far from being determined but it will definitely not be the city."

Para-rower was moved in repechage stage

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Thursday's Times about para-rower KateLynn Steinke contained incorrect information about one of her races. She was moved to an outside lane in the repechage stage, not the finals B.

'Far From Heaven' song was 'Tuesdays, Thursdays'

Because of a reporting error, a review of Speakeasy Stage Company's Boston production of "Far From Heaven" that appeared on Page B6 of Tuesday's Times included incorrect information regarding a song title. The song Jennifer Ellis sings as her character, Cathy, talks on the phone with Cathy's husband, Frank, is called "Tuesdays, Thursdays."

Correction: Public comment required for federal plover permit

September 19, 2014

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of the Sept. 12 Times contained incorrect information about the federal requirements for public input as Orleans applies for a three-year incidental take permit for piping plovers. A public comment period is required.

Name of actress incorrect in CapeWeek caption

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a caption in the "Behind the Scenes" column on Page 12 of Friday's CapeWeek magazine misspelled the name of one of the actresses in "33 Variations" at Cotuit Center for the Arts. Her name is Linda Monchik.

MCAS chart omitted elementary school

Because of a reporting error, a school was omitted from an MCAS chart on Page A7 of Sunday's Times. Eddy Elementary School in Brewster was ranked as a Level 2 school on a scale of 1 to 5, with Level 1 being highest achieving.

Car that ran red light hit street sign

October 03, 2014

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a story on Page A3 of Thursday's edition identified the wrong car that police say ran a red light at the intersection of Higgins Crowell Road and Route 28, causing a three-car crash. A Chevrolet Malibu ran the light and collided with a GMC Suburban traveling on Route 28. The Suburban collided with a Mazda sedan and the Malibu crashed into a street sign, according to police.

Because of an editing error, a story about two historic houses in Orleans on Page A1 of Monday's Times misidentified the property that was scheduled to be discussed by the Orleans Historical Commission on Monday. The commission was scheduled to review a notice of intent to demolish the so-called Percival house located at 120 Route 6A.

Correction: Rock seawall proposed to be 6 feet high

October 07, 2014

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a story on Page A1 of Monday's edition had the wrong height for a proposed rock seawall in Chatham.

The stone revetment to protect the Shore Road home of James and Lisa McGonigle was proposed to be 6 feet high, with approximately half of it buried below the grade of the beach so that the new stone wall will be the same height as an existing one on an adjacent property.

Canal's authorized depth is 32 feet

Because of a writer's error, a "My View" guest column on Page A8 of Saturday's Times incorrectly stated the maximum draft of ships traveling through the Cape Cod Canal.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which maintains the canal, has posted an authorized depth of 32 feet at mean low water.

Georgia Dash's name misspelled in story

Due to a reporter's error, the last name of Georgia Dash, director of infection control for Cape Cod Healthcare, was misspelled on second reference in a story Oct. 8 about Cape Cod Healthcare's new flu policy.

Lucky for Life lottery numbers corrected

Because of an editing error, the Monday's Lucky for Life lottery numbers on Page A2 of Tuesday's Times were incorrect. The winning numbers were 3-10-12-14-15, Lucky ball 5.
