Cape Codders, prepare Wednesday for belly flopping, beer chugging, keg throwing, and dune jumping.

Five local bars will have their names in lights on a national television show “Drinking Made Easy” that highlights local drinks and drinking customs.

The Cape Cod episode of the HDNet series, airing at 8 p.m. Wednesday, was filmed this summer. At The Beachcomber in Wellfleet, show host Zane Lamprey and his drinking buddy Steve McKenna knocked back the oceanfront bar's $7 Goombay Smash, a fruity rum drink.

“We just sell thousands of them in the summer,” Beachcomber proprietor Todd LeBart said on Tuesday of the rum drink. “It was fun. He was a very engaging, real nice guy, Zane.”

The four other bars are the Old Colony Tap in Provincetown, with its signature “Everything Shot”; Blackfish Restaurant in Truro, with its “Strawberry Basil Martini”; Truro Vineyards of Cape Cod in North Truro; and Trader Ed's and Cape Cod Beer, both in Hyannis.

The show has traveled to Miami, Tampa, Washington, D.C., Seattle, Santa Barbara, Aspen, Monterey, California and more. Wednesday's episode can be found at Comcast high-definition TV channel 783, and on DIRECTV, Dish Network, Full Channel TV Inc. and Verizon FiOS, according to a HDNet spokeswoman.

Cape Cod Times has done it again...couple days ago they printed an article referring to the problem of too much drinking on the Cape. They are more & more a `rag` sheet. Nothing more.

Cape Cod Today "reported" on 12/14/11 Barnstable among America's ten booziest towns and cited US News and World Report, (Really? they read that over there?) but it was America's Top 10 Booziest Cities of 2008.

The old report has been surfacing in newspapers around the country recently.

I actually saw it on FARK. :facepalm3:
Not that I ever claimed to be a reporter or journalist.
I did take a class called "Newspaper" once for an easy English credit though.
